Tourist Travel Requirements for a Taiwan, China Visa for Indian Citizens
Visa May Not Be Required
A visa exemption for a stay of up to 14 days is possible with an Entry Permit Authorization. You must obtain the Entry Permit prior to travel.
To qualify for the Entry Permit Authorization, you must:
- Hold a valid visa or permanent residency issued by a Schengen member state, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the UK or the USA
- Not have held a Taiwanese "FL" or "X" entry visa or resident card
- Hold a passport valid for at least six months with at least one blank visa page
- Hold proof of onward and return flights
In addition to the Entry Permit Authorization, while traveling for less than 14 days you must:
- Hold all documents required for the next destination
- Hold proof of sufficient funds relative to your intended length of stay
- Confirm with your airline prior to your travel date that boarding will be permitted without a visa

If you do not qualify for the Entry Permit Authorization or will be staying longer than 14 days, please refer to the requirements below.
Passport
The applicant's actual passport. The passport must:
- Have at least two blank visa pages
- Be valid six months beyond entry date
- Be issued as a full validity passport
- Not be damaged in any way
Copy of Passport
A copy of the first and the last information page of the applicant's passport
Photographs
You must provide two colour, passport type photographs that meet the following criteria:
- Be taken within the last three months and printed on high quality photo paper
- Be taken against an all white background
- Be 35 mm by 45mm in size
- Provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centered in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression
- You may wear neither spectacles nor headwear except for religious purposes
- Your photos should not be affixed to your application and they may not display evidence of adhesive or staples
Business Cover Letter
You must provide an original Business Cover Letter from the applicant's Indian employer. All letters must be printed on company letterhead that displays an Indian postal address in order to prevent a rejection and possible delays with your visa request.
Note that most embassies require the Business Cover Letter to be dated within one month of application submission.
In addition your Business Cover Letter must:- Be addressed to "The Visa Officer, Taipei Economic and Culture Center, Chennai"
- Include duration of visit
- Indicate who will pay for the expenses during the period of travel
- Be signed by the authorized signatory with name, designation, and contact number
- Be stamped with company stamp
Letter of Invitation
A letter of invitation from the applicant's host. This letter must:
- Be on company's letterhead
- Be addressed to "The Visa Office, Taipei Economic and Culture Center, Chennai"
- Include the applicant's name, designation, passport number, purpose, and duration of visit
- Be signed by the authorized signatory with name, designation, and contact details
- Mention details of the contact person in Taiwan
Proof of Travel Arrangements
Details of travel arrangements. This must be provided as:
- A copy of the flight confirmation showing onward/return travel.
- A copy of the hotel confirmation
Proof of Financial Means
The company in India must provide proof of financial means. This must be provided as:
- The company's original bank statements of the last three months with bank stamp and signature
- Copy of the Indian company's Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last year
- Proof of transaction (if applicable) such as remittance receipts, business correspondence between trading parties, letter of credit, etc.
Additionally, the applicants must provide proof of financial means. This must be provided as:
- Applicant's original personal bank statements of the last three months with bank stamp and signature
- Copy of income tax returns (ITR) or form 16 for the last year
Certificate of Incorporation
This must be provided as a photocopy of the Certificate of Incorporation (Company Registration) of the Indian company.

When is the best time to apply for my Taiwan, China visa?
The best time to apply for your Taiwan, China visa is 1-2 months before your travel date. However, if you are running short on time, we may be able to process your visa on a faster service at the Embassy’s discretion. -
Do I have to send you my passport to get a Taiwan, China visa? Is it safe to send a passport?
Yes. You will need to send your actual passport, not a copy of it. The Taiwan, China visa is stamped on your passport and will become one of your passport pages. Visa request cannot be processed without your original passport. Because of the importance of your passport, we strongly suggest that you send your application using our secure collection service.
